The merit of present doctors?

From the TV newsreports, it appears that there are serious valid reasons to doubt the present medical education. The profession of a medical doctor is considered to a nobel one. A doctor is supposed to provide selfless service to the society.

But what are we witnessing these days, Medical students, who enjoy whole lot of privilages at the expense of the taxpayers money, are neglecting their duties not for a nobel cause, but just in solidarity with their siblings who may be aspiring to become doctors and mint money.

I had good as well as bad experiences with many of them

Good to see people who are neither pro or anti reservation. Your posts were more on facts and I think such people can make a difference.

May be you would doubt the merits and morals of Mahatma Gandhi too.

The doctors in delhi were peacefully marching towards the primeminister's residence.

And just to let you know, NOT ALL DOCTORS ARE OFF DUTY. The students in Mumbai (which by the way were mercilessly beaten up today too) are protesting after attending to their duties.

Please akshat, do not compare yourself with Mahatma Gandhi, the only thing common between the two, the anti reservation protestants and Gandhi is that both staged protests, the similarity ends there. But, Gandhi protested for the freedom and rights of the entire nation, these youngsters are protesting to retain the privilages they enjoy, only because of the unjust caste system that has been prevalent in India for ages.

True, there can be alternate solutions for addressing this injustice, but protests that are on the brink of blackmailing people who have no option but to go to a Govt' aided hospital, cannot be justified by any responsible citizen.
